Civil Protection Unit is a conceptual music act focusing on the notion of music as silent propaganda and overt submission. Different ways in which contemporary music works are undermined, such as in breaking up what kind of lyrics work with which kind of music or testing the political barriers of listeners. CPU uses the totalitarian energies that contemporary music inherently makes use of, for better symbolizing some of the problems stemming from music that has turned to a power of its own. In CPU, instead of playing the role of the protester, dissident or freak offspring of "the system", we don the harlequin masks of those in power and play their roles better than themselves.

But CPU isn't only built as a model for social critique. Listening to CPU you might find yourselves tapping your feet or getting down to some heavy dance/electro/industrial tunes while at the same time singing along to the catchy chorus line "I was born and raised in a fascist state / I can live without democracy!".
